Details
The National Sports Tournament (NST) is a basketball and netball tournament open to participants from across Australia. Held yearly at Narrandjeri Stadium, Thornbury Vic. The NST is the largest LGBTIQA+ sports tournament in the country. It's so much more than a tournament as we put community first in everything we do.
The NST runs over two days Friday 17th January (evening) and all day Saturday 18th January. The basketball and netball tournaments run as a round robin format culminating in finals and then a Grand final.
It’s a fun and friendly atmosphere with DJ’s, roving roller skating performers and giveaways. There will be a community market with featured local businesses keen to connect with the LGBTIQA+ community. An accessible quiet space will be available for folks to use during the tournament. On the Saturday evening after the grand final we will be hosting an afterparty details to follow.
The NST embraces the QSA spirit prioritising fun over winning. All teams are non gendered and will follow QSA’s Rainbow Rules. For example, if your team is down by 10 points, don’t worry your opposition won’t be able to shoot a hoop without passing the ball a certain number of times.
Folks of all gender identities, abilities and allies are welcome to participate.
